Westbury Youth FC Under 9s have a brand spanking new football kit thanks to the support of Lancashire based fuel management firm, Triscan Systems. The under 9’s football squad who have two teams playing in the Mid Wiltshire Youth & Minor Football League, has a total of 19 children registered. The Hurricanes and the Spitfires have each been placed into separate divisions and will play league fixtures up to the end of November, at which point the league will evaluate the results and then re assign each team to divisions appropriate to their ability.
Team Manager Matt Bright is pleased with progress so far – “Things are looking very promising for the Hurricanes with good results to date and impressive team play in both games. I would go so far as to anticipate a place in the top division when the teams complete all their games in December”. September has thrown up two good wins; they won 10-1 away to Corsham Leopards on the 10th and 5-2 at home to Bromham Youth on 24th. Although playing some really good football the Spitfires have had a tougher start to the campaign. The have played 3 games; home to Larkhall Athletic A which was drawn 1-1 and away to Warminster Highbury Reds and Melksham United B, both of which were lost 8-1 and 4-2 respectively. Matt continues “The Spitfires have had a tough start to the season although we are in a very difficult division so were prepared for this. The team has showed great spirit in all 3 games despite being up against strong opposition. We will know doubt fair better in December when re assigned to a more appropriate division”.
Triscan Managing Director Simon Hollingsworth, who enjoys his football further north at Sheffield Wednesday, commented – “Triscan is really pleased to be supporting kids football at this level and we look forward to monitoring their progress through the coming season; the new kit looks fantastic”. The Hurricane squad members are: Harrison Bright, Blake Johnson, Ryan Prior, Cameron Jones, Luke Chappel, Louis Wilkins, Sam Cassidy, Cameron Curtis & Nathan Ellis. The Spitfire Squad members are: Jack O’Connor, Jack Burton, Ben Cummins, Oliver Cordey, George Howe, Jarad Gooderson, Colin Weightman, Brandon Wheeler, Finn Wrintmore & Piper Buaman
